Monospaced fonts are perfect for offsetting text from the regular paragraph. Perhaps you want to point out a command name, or you want to use a separate font to show the user what they should type.

Finally, the typewriter text is the most commonly used monospaced font marker. It's often used to simply highlight important text, like the bold or italic markers.
